I have been a lifelong fan of Florentine crafts. For centuries Florence has been an epicenter of of fine art. I remember growing up and having aged Florentine trays and boxes peppered around our house, and my grandparents' home. The style is so oppulent, but the wear they endure over time provides a shabby chic juxtaposition. They have always been a popular tourist purchase, but that has never deterred me from loving them. Nowadays you will find vintage versions crafted from both wood and composite resin, but all still made in Florence, painted in traditional motifs and accented with gold. And my favorite part? The wear over time each one has giving it that shabby chic look.
