Tastemakers on the Hunt: Javier Burkle

I remember the very first time I met Javier Burkle. Though it feels like yesterday, we first met nearly a decade ago. It was New Year’s Eve 2017 in Mexico City. He was traveling with some mutual friends of ours, and we ran into each other at the Four Seasons where we were both staying. At that point, he was a young, up-and-coming Dallas-based designer, and I could tell immediately he was one of those creatives destined to go places — and fast. And I was right. Since then, our paths have crossed many more times, and I am beyond thrilled that he graciously accepted our invitation to Tastemakers on the Hunt.

Javier’s design approach is unmistakable. It’s layered but effortless, refined yet deeply personal — the kind of interior that tells a story the moment you walk into it. If you have followed Hunt & Bloom for any amount of time, you know this is right up our alley.

We’re continually inspired by creatives who approach design in a way that is both incredibly thoughtful and meticulously considered. Javier embodies that exact mentality.

Founded in 2015, Burkle Creative has become known for creating richly textured residential and commercial interiors that balance timeless sophistication with warmth and livability. Based in Dallas, the studio’s work spans projects throughout the United States and abroad, blending international influence, collected character, and thoughtful craftsmanship.

What draws us most to Javier’s work is his ability to create homes that feel curated over time rather than simply decorated. One of my core philosophies in outfitting a home is that furnishings should never look like they were purchased in a single day solely to fill a space. Rather, a space should tell a story — your story — and feature pieces both old and new, gathered from near and far. His interiors effortlessly mix vintage and contemporary pieces, layered textiles, meaningful art, and architectural detail in a way that feels deeply authentic to the people who live there. As Architectural Digest describes it, Burkle Creative designs homes that feel “collected, personal, and meant to be lived in.”

Originally from Mexico City, Javier brings a global perspective to his work, often drawing inspiration from travel, artisanship, and traditional craftsmanship. In interviews, he has spoken about his love for eclectic interiors filled with personality, describing his design philosophy as one rooted in “balance and beauty.”

In a design landscape increasingly dominated by fast trends and disposable design, Burkle Creative offers something enduring: interiors with soul.

We’re honored to highlight Javier Burkle as part of our ongoing celebration of designers and tastemakers whose work inspires how we live, gather, and create home.
